Who defines normal anyways?
According to dictionary.com, the word normal is defined as the following:
- Conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; regular; natural.
- Serving to establish a standard.
Yep, quite boring! Who wants to be just regular? I know I want to be anything but the usual. I want to be unique. It bothers me when people try to fit into culture norms in fear of being judged. Folks, it's time to stop caring what people think of you... Start living. BE YOU! Lets be epic!
I think one of the reasons why I like jump rope and the people involved in jump rope so much is because they are simply themselves. We, jump ropers, gladly accept that we are "a little different", and I wouldn't have it any other way. I find that I connect with people the most when they are just being themselves, real, and not caring what I think. I also find that this is when people are the most hilarious. These people tend to be my closest friends, and I love them very much!
I'm not ashamed that I have worn boxers, crazy socks, or spandex at a camp on a college campus. Who cares if people look at me funny when I talk about wounded ducks, cabooses, whips, or doing speed. When I was younger, I was picked on because I was on the jump rope team. I was called "gay", "girly", and several other names--younger kids can be so cruel. However, I don't regret any of that in the least bit. It has helped me be a stronger person and the person I am today. Besides, after we did school performance, they quickly changed their minds. I think it only takes one person to change the perception of many. It's important to stand up for what you believe in. It's time to stop caring what people think of you... Start living. BE YOU! Lets be epic!

You aren't crazy. You are perfectly wonderfully abi-normal. (Young Frankenstein reference. If you've never seen the movie it's an oldie but a goodie! See it!) and you are perfectly who you are made to be.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I agree with #'s 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, & 19. I do not agree with 16, because I do not like people standing on my shadow either. Its creepy!
I'm so very very proud of you. Could not have asked for a better son. You had a hard road to follow, but you did it. Now that you are starting your job I know you will be a great nurse just like you are a great son. Continue to do the best you can and you will go far in life. I love you always . Mom.
